Around 100 tonnes of scrap metal caught fire at the EMR yard, in Landor Street, at around 19:00 on Monday (August 20). Jim Sinnett, group commander at West Midlands Fire Service, explained that water did not penetrate the metal so it had to all be pulled apart and turned over. Hence he said: “This is going to take some days maybe to be fully extinguished.”

Time and Attendance Midlands’ clocking products can be integrated with fire roll call software that will automatically generate a report of those onsite if a fire or other emergency occurs at your office or business. Employees simply log themselves on and off site using either a fast, proximity read smart card or key fob. Workers can use the cards to exit the building in a quarter of second, getting them out of harm’s way quicker than slower and outdated swipe card systems.
