Up to 80 jobs could be created as council approves plans for leisure venture

Up to 80 new jobs could be created in Wolverhampton after the local council’s planning officers recommended for approval plans to convert a former factory into a new leisure venture, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The site earmarked for redevelopment is the former Chubb Lock Custodial Services factory on Well Lane. The aim of the project is to create an Air Space facility, namely a centre with 100 interconnected trampolines that can be used for free jumping and sports activities.

The project is being led by Adventure Forest, which trades as Go Ape. There is currently only one Air Space site in the UK at East Kilbride, which is said to be Europe’s biggest indoor trampoline park.

In a document published ahead of the meeting, officers said that a key issue was a loss of strategic land. However, it was recommended that the loss was outweighed by the contribution of new jobs, the "unique requirements of the occupier" and the reoccupation of the vacant unit.
