Water company to create 400 new jobs in Stoke
An estimate of 400 new jobs will be created in Stoke as a result of Severn Trent and United Utilities creating a new joint venture based in the city, a news report in the local business media has been able to suggest.
The new company, which will be worth an estimate of £940m and will be known as Water Plus, will be created by the merger of the aforementioned companies’ non-household water and wastewater retail businesses.
Severn Trent and United Utilities have now agreed to take space at Stoke’s Two Smithfield and will move Water Plus to the site at the end of May.
Sue Amies-King, chief executive of Water Plus, said: "Stoke-on-Trent was a natural choice. Two Smithfield is well positioned for our combined operations and the business customers we serve.
"We love the building and the area. It’s a vibrant place for us to do business. We are looking forward to having a really positive impact in the city."
