More than 320 jobs lost as hosiery and lingerie manufacturers goes into administration

Over 320 East Midlands employees of CUK Clothing Ltd and Courtaulds Brands Ltd. will lose their jobs as the two companies have called in administrators, according to a recent news report in the local business media.

The two companies made hosiery, socks, bras, underwear, nightwear, casual wear, jackets and coats, employing 380 staff at bases in Belper and London. Courtaulds Brands produced hosiery for Pretty Polly under licence, a renowned tight maker established in 1919.

As a result of the insolvency, 320 jobs have been lost in Derbyshire, along with four in Nottingham and 26 in London.

Representatives of administrators at RSM Restructuring Advisory commented: "The administration of BHS has added to the challenge of operating within a fiercely competitive market for seasonal products.

"This has left the directors with little choice but to place the companies into administration.

"Regrettably, we have been forced to make 350 employees redundant to align with the current order book, and we are assisting them with their claims to the Redundancy Payments Service.

"We are currently engaging with the key customers to assess their ongoing orders and delivery schedules."
