Developer submits plans for hundreds of new homes in the East Midlands

A residential developer has put forward a set of plans for building hundreds of new homes on agricultural land between Leicester and Market Harborough, a recent news report has been able to suggest.

Housebuilding giant Persimmon has earmarked a 30-acre site located on the southern side of the village of Fleckney for this development. It is currently used as pasture for livestock grazing.

In proposals submitted to Harborough District Council earlier this week (30 August 2016), Persimmon outlined its plans to build 290 homes on the plot.

The dwellings will be a mix of two, three, four and five-bed properties and will include 70 affordable homes.

A planning statement prepared by Oasis Urban Design said the new homes will have a "positive impact" on the local economy by "supporting local businesses and increasing the viability of local services".

It added that the project could also bring new jobs to the area.
