Derby engineering company to go on a recruitment drive
A new time and attendance system that helps streamline the new personnel onboarding process is just what a Derby-based precision engineering company might be needing after announcing plans to increase the size of its workforce after securing a £21,000 grant.
Established in 2004, Promach 3D specialises in the design and manufacture of conventional and complex components for use in the aerospace, rail and motorsport industries.
It has used the money – which was provided by the Derby and Derbyshire Enterprise Growth Fund (D2EGF) – to install a mezzanine floor at its Victory Road premises. This will allow the company to expand its footprint and take on new staff.
When it came to expanding, managing director Martin Spooner said the business was reluctant to relocate.
"Being at the heart of a manufacturing district allowed us to be accessible and responsive," he said. "Location was key to being able to work as an extension of our customers own teams.
"However, the building was no longer viable for growing the business and was restricting our ambitions for the company. No other premises available at the time offered the same benefits in terms of location. We were already where we needed to be."
After considering all the options, Promach opted for the mezzanine option.
Promach owner Matthew Fazekas said: "In order to increase our human resources and continue the development of young engineers within our organisation, I spent many months designing the layout of the floor and the new work areas.
"We are pleased with the results and it gives us a great platform to welcome new recruits, train more apprentices and expand our customer base. We are thankful for the financial assistance and to our customers/staff for being patient during the disruptive period."
