Save your staff from stress with our time and attendance clocking terminals

Linney Group has been granted permission to build a storage and distribution centre at Anglia Way, Nottinghamshire, creating 100 jobs.

The group works with famous brands like Starbucks, Waterstones, McDonalds, Cineworld, Colgate, Jaguar Land Rover, Virgin Active and Wilko.

In 1851, William Linney opened a bookshop in Mansfield. Over the following three decades, the business developed to sell books, stationary and musical instruments as well as providing print, publishing and wholesale services.

The unit will have 106,562 sq ft gross internal space. The planned centre will have two floors: ground and first. The ground floor will contain a reception area, employee changing facilities and an open plan admin and office area connecting directly onto the warehouse and loading bays. The first floor will house a pick and pack facility and supporting ancillary spaces.

A statement submitted to the council on behalf of the applicant read: "The new building is a bespoke warehouse, to enable Linney Group to accommodate their expanding client base.

"The initial design responds the existing Linney units around the campus and is easily identifiable as part of the Linney brand.

"The site is a vacant site already owned by Linney and the best area of land available to Linney for the proposed use.

"The aspiration from all parties involved with the design is to produce a high quality bespoke development which is sympathetic to its neighbours."

______________

A big expansion such as Linney Group has managed is something to be praised, and a great sign of a high-performing, forward-thinking company. However, sometimes companies get too excited about big changes and forget vital details.

A good example of this is not considering whether the current time and attendance system can handle an influx of 100 new workers. If, as with many distribution centres, you are still relying on the workers to fill out paper timesheets with their hours worked, then 100 new workers will be 100 new timesheets!

Are these timesheets personally signed off by managers? How long does it take them, and are they prepared for another 5, 25, or however the load would be divided up?

Then the next stage of processing paper timesheets is someone, often an office admin or junior payroll staff member, going through the massive pile of paper and painstakingly typing out the recorded hours into an Excel spreadsheet, ready to transfer to the payroll software.

Depending on the quantity, that can take more than a day to complete. Again, how long will writing up 100 more timesheets take your staff?

With a clocking terminal and software from Time and Attendance Midlands, all that time spent on dealing with paper timesheets will be rendered unnecessary, freeing your staff up for more productive tasks. Entrance and exit times are collected automatically as workers clock in with smartcards or biometrics, and the attendance data can be exported in a format suitable for all leading payroll programs.

If you are intending to hire a large number of staff, rather than give your staff more stress and risk burnout, why not book a demo with us so we can show you how useful the clocking terminal can be?
