Large multi-company offices sites would benefit from a good visitor management system

A planning application has been published for a major office development in Unity Square, in Queensbridge Road opposite the railway station.

The developers Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates are planning to build two ten and 13-storey buildings, creating 667,599 square feet of office space. They purchased Unity Square from Peel Land and Property Group in 2015, and cleared the space in 2017.

Bowmer & Kirkland has been named as the contractor and work would start in early 2019 if planning permission is granted.

Peveril Securities’ managing director Ralph Jones said: "There is significant long-term investment in this area of the city.

"It is an exciting time for Nottingham with many significant schemes on the horizon and cranes expected on the Unity Square site in the next 12 months.

"Looking ahead, the occupiers of Unity Square will be at the heart of this regenerated area of Nottingham, allowing them to take advantage of the multitude of local facilities and excellent transport links."

Sladen Estates’ chief executive Nick Sladen added: "The city council has been proactive in supporting the scheme which has generated strong interest from a number of office occupiers.

"Unfortunately, Nottingham has struggled to provide grade A office space over the last few years. Unity Square will help to bridge that gap. With hundreds of people working in offices in Unity Square, we see ourselves as helping bring forward an entirely new business community – breathing new life into the southern gateway – and boosting the Nottingham economy.

"There will be significant job creation up to and during the build programme, and once complete local eateries and shops will benefit from the hundreds of people working there."

A multi-business site used by many different businesses needs to have a great visitor monitoring system. This would minimise accidental disruptions from people ending up in the wrong place, and enable an up to date list of occupants for health and safety.

Time and Attendance Midlands offers the Management of Contractors and Visitors Software (MCVS) to help everyone from staff to visitors and the postman be in the right place at the right time.

This network-based application allows you to advance book visitor appointments and pre-book on site contractors, using either the PC based application or a user’s Internet browser. Unlike the typical paper “sign-in book”, this complies with GDPR because visitors can’t see each other’s data and it is only kept for as long as it is required.

If there is no reception area in your particular workspace, or if there is not a designated receptionist, we can also offer you the Self Service Visitor Management App, which enables visitors to check themselves in for appointments using a touchscreen. This then emails the person who will be hosting them, and logs them in on the central system.

This app works in tandem with our Self Service Module, and this combination is perfect for businesses who rent or otherwise don’t own their properties. Many time and attendance systems require physical hardware, which can’t be installed when you don’t own the place where you work. Others only work in the cloud, which may not be suitable for your company’s needs due to bandwidth, security and software compatibility concerns.

Using our software and these apps, which can be accessed from the web or a mobile phone, you can gather and manage data on your employees’ attendance and workday timing, such as the length of their lunch breaks. Many office-based workplaces don’t believe in the usefulness of time monitoring, but we think differently.

It doesn’t have to be Big Brother – you don’t even need to take action on your data if you don’t want to. But we know from experience that companies find the data we can offer them very useful in building up a bigger picture of punctuality and productivity.
