A Northampton club which had its licence suspended after a recent fatal incident is to close – but the administrators said the decision to shut it was not related to that, but due to its poor trading performance.

Derby City Council could lose up to 500 jobs because the authority wants to save £20 million in the next financial year. The council said management will continue to meet weekly with trade union representatives to discuss the situation.
A proposal to switch off 1,654 lights in Market Harborough is part of a bid to reduce council expenditure, as well as cut down on 3,000 tonnes of carbon. The street lights would be switched off at night time in Harborough from the New Year onwards if the plans are confirmed.

The Peel Centre retail park in Wolverhampton has been hit by a fire which has damaged three stores and has been attributed to arson. Just before 12.30am on Monday morning, an intruder alarm was activated at The Peel Centre store on Stafford Street.
