Construction education boost in Nottingham thanks to £1m funding


Nottingham has received £1 million from the Construction Skills Fund in order to launch construction academies to get more people into construction training and jobs.
 
Nottingham College was the main force behind the successful bid, along with partners Nottingham City Homes, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham City Council, Wates Construction and local construction firm Woodhead Group.
 
The construction academies will allow learners to apply their knowledge in a real-world environment.

Cold storage approved near Grantham


Planning approval was granted for a new cold store south of Grantham. The site will be used by McCain foods, and will create around 300 jobs.

Retail packaging company left 100-year-old site for better surroundings


City Paper Co has left the space it has occupied for over 100 years and moved its office space to the Crestwood area. 

Its new 7,790 square foot premises are only slightly larger than previously, but has a breakroom for the staff and a showroom for clients. 20 of the company’s 30 employees work in the new office environment, as oppose to their warehouse (which has remained in the old location). 

New West Midlands office and warehouse


Latham’s Security Doorsets, a West Midlands door manufacturer, has officially opened their new office building and extended warehouse.
 
The company held an event to celebrate the new buildings. 
 
They invested £500,000 in the new facilities, which included the 25,000 square foot extension and hired new staff.
