Automotive supplier to invest £3m in a new internal training academy

A well-known West Midlands automotive supplier has revealed plans to build a new internal training academy to help fill the engineering skills gap in the region, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

Coventry-based Brose UK has doubled its operations over the past 18 months and created 200 jobs and is now set to invest up to £3m in the new centre.

The academy, which is being supported by a £1.4m grant from the government’s Skills Fund, will identify and develop training needs for each member of staff. It is also expected to drive the company’s employment of graduates, apprentices and interns.

Ruth Owen, HR director at Brose, said: "This growth comes with its own set of challenges and we are continually looking at new ways to develop existing members of staff and also ensure that the new people joining us fit seamlessly into the Brose culture of teamwork and world class manufacturing."
