Care home attendance management
A new £6m care home has been built near Loughborough.
Lonsdale Mews is located in Quorn. It has 64 beds and a wide range of additional facilities, including a choice of themed living rooms and dining rooms, a hairdresser, cinema and a library.
The premises was completed by Nottingham-based construction company Clegg Construction for Care UK.
Dave Swift, contracts manager at Clegg Construction, said: “We’ve really enjoyed working closely with Care UK to build the best possible home for its future residents, so we’re therefore delighted to have handed over the project.
“The building combines the familiarity of domestic architecture with the benefits of a contemporary care home.
“From the landscaped gardens to the carefully thought out internal living spaces, the utmost care has been taken to ensure a welcoming, high standard of design, construction, and finish.
“The home was built traditionally from load bearing brickwork and masonry to the latest thermal and fire protection standards.
“The building also features combined heat and power mechanical plant, which addresses environmental sustainability with some of the latest technology. It’s a project we’re very proud to be part of.”
Claire Ellam, head of care home development for Care UK, added: “We are really proud of the environment that has been created at our new care home.
“This is the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes and reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in Quorn.
“Every last detail here has been considered to create a high-quality, luxury care home which enables residents to live safe, active and fulfilled lives.”
Care homes are staffed 24/7 by care workers, receptionists, security guards and other members of staff. This means that there is likely to be a large number of overlapping and/or irregular shifts.
This is already difficult enough for supervisors to manage successfully. It is vital that there is a clear picture of who is in the building at any given time, not only for the security and reputation of the care home, but also for visitors’ safety in situations such as fire alarms.
Our specialist time and attendance system records everyone’s entrance and exit from controlled doors, using either smartcards or more expensive but more secure biometric measurements.
When the time and attendance clocking terminals from Time and Attendance Midlands are linked into your company’s fire alarm system, any fire alarm activation will result in the printing of a fast, automated list of who is currently clocked into the building. This is more accurate than a paper sign-in sheet.
All the data from our system on when people went through controlled doors is exportable onto all major payroll programmes. We also have the Self Service Module, which can be accessed from a browser or from your mobile via the app (available on Android and iOS). This enables employees to sign in and out and request holiday.
If the clocking in/out is done from a mobile, the information is transferred to the central Tensor.NET application, including GPS position data so that you can make sure your remote employees, such as community carers, are where they should be at that time.
