Coventry businesses can reduce absence levels using smart card technology

Coventry Council schemeCoventry City Council is trying a new scheme in order to drive down the amount of time and money lost through short term absence, which accounts for most sick leave. Under the trial, which began in December, staff who feel unwell must ring an NHS-qualified nurse instead of their boss to tell them they’re not coming in. They are asked a series of questions to work out what their illness is, and when they might be able to be fit to return to work.

Then the nurse sends an e-mail or text message to the line manager informing them of the employee’s illness and likely return date to work. The council hopes the measure will reduce absence levels by 30%, and save on agency fees by £4m to £5m.

Simple to use Time & Attendance Midlands technology will also be a major factor in reducing absence levels in Coventry. Our smart card technology allows your employees to quickly clock in and out, with the software accurately recording attendances. The inbuilt report generator makes it simple to get both real-time and archived information to keep track of your staff, and hosts a range of output styles to suit your company’s requirements.
