Fast building evacuation thanks to employee contactless smart cards

A gas leak caused St Matthews Primary School in Donnington, Telford, to shut down. The leak occurred earlier this morning (Thursday), and headteacher Kate Clark said staff arriving at the building noticed a “very strong” smell of gas. The school gates were immediately locked to stop pupils arriving, while staff and children were moved from a school building. The school is closed for the rest of today but Ms Clark said she hoped it would be open tomorrow (Friday).
