Forced hours in reduction – our system can keep pace.

Jaguar Land Rover is dealing with “continuing headwinds” in the industry by putting workers at their Castle Bromwich factory on a 3-day week until Christmas. Earlier this year, the company also cut 1,000 agency jobs at their Solihull plant.

The former Spitfire factory makes XF, XJ and XE Jaguars as well as the F-Type sports car.

A statement said: "As is standard business practice, Jaguar Land Rover regularly reviews its production schedules to ensure market demand is balanced globally

"In light of the continuing headwinds impacting the car industry, we are making some temporary adjustments to our production schedules at Castle Bromwich

"We are however continuing to over-proportionally invest in new products and technologies, and committed to our UK plants in which we have invested more than £4bn since 2010 to future proof manufacturing technologies to deliver new models."

Last week, chief executive Ralf Speth warned that a ‘hard’ Brexit could cost tens of thousands of jobs at JLR and its supplier companies in the UK.

With flexible working all the rage at the moment, it is saddening to hear about workers whose hours are reducing through business necessity rather a personal choice.

Luckily, our top-quality time and attendance system can easily cope with hours outside of the typical 9-5. There are a number of basic rules to calculate different types of pay, such as overtime or premium times like weekends, and these can be combined to create work patterns.

System admins can set the employees’ flexible hours, and employees can view this and request adjustments if necessary. Flexi adjustments can be made for any day, either to change the existing balance or to replace it with a new value.

A clear, simple graphical display makes it easy to view and understand absence records. Different levels of absence requirements can be allotted, such as pro rata holiday and allowed sick days, or increasing the allowances per number of years spent in the business.

Many prodction facilities also find our job coting feature very useful: using the same clocking terminals as they do for attendance, employees can book onto jobs to produce a fully costed analysis and breakdown of time spent which can be exported to Excel.
