Five other science centres from across the UK have been awarded the funding: Catalyst in Widnes, Eureka! in Mersey, Glasgow Science Centre, the Dundee Science Centre, and Techniquest in Cardiff.

 

The money will be used to help create new learning activities, improve the facilities and to help develop sustainable business models.

 

Sam Gyimah, science minister, said: “We want to bring the wonders of science to as wide an audience as possible and that’s why it is at the heart of our modern Industrial Strategy.

 

"This investment will help inspire people from across the country to learn about the truly amazing benefits that science and technology has on all our lives."

Constantly attracting new visitors is one of the main aims of the science education and heritage industries. However, even such open-door organisations will have offices, warehouses and other areas where visitors only enter when invited!
