Logistics group to create 140 new jobs in Birmingham

Up to 140 new jobs are set to be created in Birmingham as a leading global logistics and e-commerce company has recently committed £6m towards its expansion in a local business park, a news report has found.

One World Express has purchased the 100-year lease on a new site at Woodgate Business Park for £3m and will initially recruit staff for logistics, sales, marketing and customer service roles before creating an additional 80 jobs over the next three years.

The company’s total investment in the city, including the refurbishment of the Woodgate unit, is expected to reach £6m.

Atul Bhakta, managing director of One World Express, said: "We have continually outgrown our premises since One World Express was founded in 1998, and decided in 2014 that we needed to expand outside the Southeast.

"Birmingham’s central location and international connections – with Birmingham Airport offering direct links to our key markets – provide us with the ideal platform for further expansion."
