Lyra Electronics expands its premises as part of funded growth
Lyra Electronics, a power management specialist for ‘green’ industrial applications, has expanded into an adjacent space after obtaining funding.
The company, which is located at the Warwick Enterprise Centre at the old University of Warwick’s Horticulture Research International site, has expanded into a 2,200 sq ft unit.
The company was formed in 2011 by specialist automotive electronic engineers Mike Evans and Peter James.
The funding came thanks to Warwick Science Park’s business advisor Dirk Schafer, who helped them obtain funding from several different organisations including Innovate UK, OLEV and the Rural Growth Fund
Currently it employs 14 people. It produces and designs power electronics components, charging technology and battery management systems for automotive, off-highway and green power markets.
The company intends to use this new space to increase production, create more prototypes, and expand their staff levels to 50 by 2023.
James said: "Mike and I started this business because we wanted to push the boundaries of technology.
"We had worked together previously and decided that this was the area we wanted to branch out into and really make our mark on.
"At this stage of our development, we are delighted with both the work we are producing and the business progress we have made.
"The assistance from Dirk through Business Ready has been crucial in securing funding for our expansion and help us get more clarity on the market potential for our innovative developments.
"This will allow us to increase our production levels and create more prototypes for products that can hopefully lead the way in green technology for vehicles going forward."

______________
As Lyra Electronics expands, it is vital that they make sure their time and attendance system is up to date. This element of workplace management is very often overlooked by growing companies, as they take the approach of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
This attitude is the very opposite of useful. As new employees join, the existing system is put under more strain. What kind of strain this is depends on what kind of system is already in place.
A manufacturing company like Lyra usually has some sort of automated attendance and clocking system set up. Often this is an unintelligent set-up, using a swipe card or even a punch-card, which doesn’t record time of entry and exit anywhere.
With a time and attendance system from Time and Attendance Midlands, you will have all the attendance data from your workforce at your fingertips. Employees can clock in and out using either an online/app Self Service Module, a contactless radio-frequency smart-card, or their fingerprints.
Clocking data is sent straight to the central software, where it can be easily accessed by anyone with the relevant administrative rights. (For example, a team supervisor can see the clocking data of their team, but not of another team).
It is very useful to have this data accessible, as it helps to quickly and easily solve problems and grievances with working hours and pay which might have previously come up. It can also be exported in a format suitable for all leading payroll software, and made into reports using the report wizard or the advanced report builder depending on your requirements.
