Multiple new jobs created as Derbyshire manufacturer doubles capacity

Multiple new jobs are set to be created in Ilkeston as a Derbyshire manufacturer of healthcare products has more than doubled its capacity following a £400,000 investment, a news report in the local business media has been able to suggest.

Harlequin BPI, based on Manners Industrial Estate was founded in 2012 and makes a range of products such as eye drops, ear drops and nasal sprays.

It has added an additional 6,000 sq ft of space to its facility, allowing it to make an extra three million bottles per year. The company’s workforce has already expanded from 12 to 17 this year, with plans to take headcount to 25.

Harlequin director Ian Hopkinson said: “We are now the UK leader in what we produce in a range of sterile and non-sterile healthcare products

"I am delighted that we we already have a full order book for all our products next year. We are in partnership with a pharmaceutical company and are looking to export all over the world in the next year. That is why we have expanded the business now."
