Employees at a Birmingham sorting office threatened to walk out after their wages were late. Agency staff were brought in at Royal Mail’s Newtown depot to help with the seasonal increase in post. The workers’ wages are on a weekly basis, but some said they had not received any payments in three weeks. There was a similar delay in paying temporary staff at a Wolverhampton sorting office last week. Royal Mail said staff would be paid as soon as possible.
